ST Audio DSP3000 M-Port

The DSP3000 M-Port is the new flagship digital audio recording system from ST Audio for both PC and Mac (w/OSX).

Offering a high end professional audio/MIDI, hardware/software solution in one package, the DSP3000 M-Port represents the latest technological advances in 24-bit/96kHz digital recording and offers a professional level of performance on PC based digital systems.

The DSP3000 M-Port comes packed with all the I/O options you need right out of the box.   There are eight fully balanced analog inputs and eight fully balanced analog outputs.  On the XG DB I daughter bracket (not shown in picture) of the PCI card there are coaxial RCA S/PDIF I/O,  XLR AES/EBU I/O (on optional adapter pigtail cables), and optical S/PDIF I/O, all six at 24bit/96kHz resolution. It also comes with a one in (16ch), two out (32ch) MIDI interface and a headphone output with separate volume control. All of the eight analog inputs on DSP3000 M-Port feature independent high quality microphone pre-amplifiers with gain controls, switchable phantom power per pair, and level meter display switchable to display input or output levels. Just plug in an instrument or microphone to any of the analog input channels, set the gain levels and start recording immediately! Using the inserts (available for each channel), you can use external effect units to process the signal between the pre-amp section and the Analog-to-Digital converter.  Inserts may also be used as unbalanced direct inputs!  To top off the picture for I/O possibilities, there is also ADAT Lightpipe in and out allowing standalone connectivity with other ADAT ports.

Excellent compatibility and driver support to accommodate all your needs is available for the following systems - Windows 9x/ME/ 2000/XP plus ASIO/ASIO2/GSIF (multiclient). The included ASIO 2.0 drivers of the DSP3000 M-Port support 2ms latency at 96kHz and 5ms at 44.1kHz with recomended buffer sizes (or even lower values under Windows 2000/XP on fast systems). This means for users of many modern software synthesizers (like VST instruments) you can now play your sounds in real-time, even using real-time effects (like DirectX or VST plugins).

Notice that all cable connections are on the rear panel to keep your rack setup neat.  Normally, the DSP3000 box will be connected to the DSP24 card in a PC (or Mac) via the 44-pin Data Port.  The ADAT In and Out ports also allow standalone use with many devices such as digital mixers, ADAT interface cards, and of course, ADATs.  The per-channel 1/4" insert jacks are for in-line effects but they also have the ability to allow direct unbalanced input bypassing the preamps when desired.  This allows use of other favorite microphone preamps or the preamps in your mixing board.  Of course, unbalanced outputs can also be derived from the inserts when it is desirable to split a signal off to another device or mixer.  As with other ST Audio external boxes, the unit gets its power directly from the PC through the H-Bus data cable.  The rear 12V power supply connector can optionally be used with an external power supply of 1A or better.  This is useful in some infrequent cases when a PC has a power supply that is not supplying clean enough power or when the box is being used standalone. The external 12V PS needs to actually supply over 13.5V (most do) to make the box ignore the PC power.  (The last units we received had an external PS included.)

DSP3000 M-Port is compatible with all today's latest applications including Logic Audio, Cubase VST, Cubase SX, Nuendo, Cakewalk, SONAR, Samplitude, Cool Edit, Acid, Vegas, etc. The DSP3000 M-Port is simple to install and use and makes a great choice for you to build a home studio around. The included Logic SoundTrack24 software from Emagic allows you to use the system for professional recording without additional software.

For a closer look at the DSP3000 M-Port, download the manual below.  Or, order one today and get it on its way while you are doing your homework!  Actually, while there are many possibilities with this system, it is extremely easy and intuitive to install and use.  You are not going to be disappointed and quick customer support is always an e-mail or phone call away!

What you get:

       - DSP24 - 24bit/96kHz PCI host controller card
       - XG DB I - Digital I/O interface bracket (S/PDIF, Optical, AES/EBU)
       - ADC&DAC3000 - 8 in/8 out external 19"/2U rack interface
       - 2 meter H-Bus data cable (5m available)
       - DSP24 driver and routing/mixer/control panel ("External Links") software disk
       - Emagic Logic SoundTrack24 - 24bit/96kHz audio/MIDI-sequencer

What you can do:

       - full duplex simultaneous recording and playback offered at 24bit/96kHz (up to 10 in and 10 output channels)
       - interface with digital equipment like MD recorders, DAT recorders, digital mixers, etc.
       - record from several (up to 8) microphones connected to the ADC&DAC3000 simultaneously
       - utilize the onboard 1 x 16ch MIDI input, and 2 x 16ch (32ch) MIDI outputs with external keyboards or sound modules/ samplers
       - play software synths in real time with ultra-low latency
       - zero latency direct hardware monitoring controlled via software (you don't even need a hardware mixer)

Options and expandability:

The main PCI host card (DSP24) can be connected to multiple external interface boxes simultaneously allowing other options such as ADAT & T/DIF connectivity, or multiple digital input connections. In addition to all this flexibility, up to three additional DSP24 PCI host cards (4 in total) can be installed in the same system! This allows for a massive 40 channel I/O!

The DSP3000 M-Port really is a powerhouse 24bit/96kHz system that offers rock-solid, no compromise audio recordings in a simple to use and expandable package.
